New Balance 766 Product Review
The most recent update to the New Balance 760 series is the New Balance 766 and was launched early 2005. These New Balance sneakers replace the New Balance 765, which had really grown in popularity. The 765 had a good fit, but some runners complained of it being a little too roomy and the forefoot being slightly flat. With the New Balance 766 both these issues have been addressed.
This supportive New Balance running shoe falls into the stability category of sneaker models, has got lots of support and would be a great choice for bigger runners or heavy heel strikers. Runners World awarded this New Balance shoe with their "Editor's Choice" award for the Spring of 2005.
When looking for a running shoe, it is important to find a shoe that will cushion your stride and absorb some of the impact that striking the ground 800 to 1200 times per mile at three to four times the force of your body weight will impart. New Balance has used their ABSORB technology in the heel and forefoot offering both cushioning and stability. The Acteva midsole resists compression and the dual-rubber outsole ensures long-wearing durability. Another great feature is the no-slip laces that ensures that the sneakers stay tied. And if this running shoe doesn't have enough features, runners can also choose from a regular or a water resistant shoe.
Right in with the athletic shoe lightweight category, the 766 weighs in at 12 oz. If you are considering purchasing a pair of these runners, it is recommended that you buy a half a size larger than your everyday street shoe size. And Like other in-line New Balance shoes, you will also have the choice of multiple widths.
