The Evolution of Running Tights

It's been about 10 to 12 years now that running tights came into vogue amongst the running society. Nowadays they have evolved in such a way that it is acceptable to wear them not only for your run, but also for doing your grocery shopping, having coffee with a friend or just lounging around. Running tights are designed to be form fitting or relaxed and there are literally hundreds of variations in cut and material. The running tights of the 21 st century are truly revolutionary. They are anatomically designed to fit the runner so perfectly to provide optimum comfort and with the technical fabric of today, tights can be so soft and cuddly that you will have a hard time not wearing them all day long.

Running Tights manufactured with technical fabric are designed to wick moisture (sweat) away from your body and will also dry quickly no matter what the outside temperature is. This aids in keeping you dry and warm throughout your run. Tights can be lightweight, therefore less bulky but still keep you warm. Most running tights that I have encountered are also constructed with a flat seam so they lay flat against your body, preventing chafing and bulking. This kind of attention to detail increases the cost, but because most technical garments are well-made, they tend to last a long time through many launderings, so you'll get your money's worth from them.

A few features that are important to me when looking for in a running tight is reflective striping for safety. It is amazing how visible you will be on those night runs with reflective striping. Elastic gripper cuffs so the tights don't tend to ride up your leg during your run and zippered ankles that help to get the tights on or off with ease. I also look for a small key/card pocket inside the waistband. Tights that fit snugly will also offer warmth and compression/support to your muscles. The variety in running tights are continually growing and improving so it is a good bet that one style will not be enough for your wardrobe. Whether you are looking for a pair of "running" tights for running, exercise, your active lifestyle or just simply for lounging, it should be easy to find the one that works for you. Shop the internet and compare prices with the huge selection that you will find.
