Treat Your Feet with New Running Socks

After investing in a brand new pair of running shoes, why not take the next step and invest in a brand new pair of running socks. I, personally, treat myself and invest in new socks every time I have an event to run (sometimes amongst other items of running apparel). Reminder and I'm sure you've heard this many times that it is important never to try anything new on event day, and any changes that you make in your running gear should be tried out in training runs previous to event day. I consistently use the same brand of socks for running so when I treat myself with new socks for a race, they have been tried and tested on many hours of training runs.

When you jog, your feet will give off any amount of heat and moisture which, in turn, can cause your feet to chafe and blister - a runner's nightmare. Technologies in fabric have advanced in the past decade that it is easy to find the sock for you. Most performance socks, similar to other athletic apparel, now use CoolMax® or Dri-FIT® to wick moisture away from the feet and also prevent "hot spots", leaving your feet cool and dry - a runner's dream. On top of that CoolMax® is washable, dryable, non-chafing and it also resists shrinkage, odors and mildew.

In addition to having cool and dry feet, Brooks® manufacture a runner’s sock called the Brooks Unisex Adrenaline GTS Ped that actually fits different foot types. The Adrenaline GTS has 1x1 ribbing and fully encompasses the arch and in-step for a true fit and incredible support. The runner could choose from a medium cushioned sock with an anatomically cushioned foot bed or denser cushioned sock in heel and forefoot to protect the metatarsels.

My favorite socks that I run in are the WrightSock Unisex Double Layer Lite Anklet. These socks give you a double shot of CoolMax®. The construction of lightweight CoolMax does not compromise the fit of the shoe while still allowing two layers of material to absorb the friction, while one layer stays with your foot and the other stays with the running shoe and the slight movement happens between the layers. This sock is highly recommended for marathon runners and triathletes that demand a sock to help prevent blistering under extreme situations!

These days, with the many choices of high tech apparel we have to choose from, don't be caught in that old pair of cotton tube socks you have laying around in the bottom of your drawer. It is a small price to pay for comfortable, healthy feet.
